What should we do if there is water mist on the protective lenses of the laser cutting machine? Laser cutting machines are currently the most commonly used equipment in the metal processing industry in China. With the development of society, the metal processing industry is rapidly developing. Laser cutting machine manufacturers may experience unstable cutting quality during the use of laser cutting machines. When inspecting problems, they may discover a layer of water mist on the surface of the protective lens. After being wiped dry, unstable cutting quality may occur again after a short period of use, And it’s quite repetitive, what exactly is the reason for this? Next, Nahong Optoelectronics will analyze it for everyone.
Laser cutting machines require the use of auxiliary gases during cutting. Common auxiliary gases are divided into three types: nitrogen, oxygen, and air. Let’s first understand the performance of different gases in laser cutting and the materials suitable for cutting.
1. Oxygen
Mainly used for laser cutting and cutting carbon steel. By utilizing oxygen reaction heat to improve cutting efficiency on a large scale, the generated oxide film can improve the absorption factor of the light beam spectrum of the reflective material. The end face of the incision turns black or dark yellow. Mainly suitable for rolling steel, rolling steel for fusion welding, carbon steel for mechanical construction, high tension plates, tool plates, stainless steel, electroplated steel plates, copper, copper alloys, etc.
2. Nitrogen
Some metals use oxygen to form an oxide film on the cutting surface during cutting, and nitrogen can be used to prevent the occurrence of oxide film in non oxidizing cutting. The non oxidation cutting mask has the characteristics of being able to be directly welded and coated, and has strong corrosion resistance. The end face of the incision turns white. The main applicable plates include stainless steel, electroplated steel plate, brass, aluminum, and aluminum alloy
3. Air
It can be directly provided by an air compressor, so it is very cheap compared to other gases. Although the air contains approximately 20% oxygen, the cutting efficiency is much lower than that of oxygen, and the cutting ability is similar to that of nitrogen. Micro amounts of oxide film may appear on the cutting surface, but it can be used as a measure to prevent the coating layer from falling off. The end face of the incision turns yellow. The main materials used are aluminum, aluminum alloy, stainless copper, brass, electroplated steel plate, non-metallic, and so on
The situation of water mist in the protective lens is relatively concentrated, and the main source of air is the air compressor. Air provides cooling and cleaning effects for laser lenses and cutting lenses, preventing pollutants from reflecting in from the air nozzle. However, the air contains a large amount of water and impurities. If purification treatment is not carried out, it will cause great harm to optical components, especially the harm of moisture. The trachea used for blowing air is very close to the focusing lens, and if there is water, it is easy to splash onto the focusing lens when spraying through the air outlet. Focusing lenses have a temperature during operation, and when they come into contact with water, they will condense and produce scattered light, resulting in insufficient laser focusing intensity and accuracy, seriously affecting cutting quality. Over time, the focusing lens is prone to damage. So it needs to be configured τ Drying agents are used in conjunction with air compressors for filtration and drainage, but not all τ Dry air can ensure the use requirements of laser gas.
So, the dryer is the culprit for the appearance of water mist during the laser cutting process. So for the matching of laser cutting machines τ How do we choose a dryer?
The commonly used dryers on the market are mainly two types of freeze-type and adsorption type freeze-type dryers:
1. The pressure dew point of the cold drying machine can only reach a minimum of 3 ℃, which cannot meet the requirements for gas dryness in laser cutting machines
2. Adsorption dryer: To ensure that there is no liquid water at the outlet of the air, only adsorption type can be selected τ Drying machine. The pressure dew point of the core adsorption drying machine can continuously and stably reach -40 ° C, with a maximum of -80 ° C, fully meeting the needs of laser cutting processing.
The purpose of using air is to save costs, but while saving costs, it is important not to choose a poor air compressor or dryer, otherwise unstable cutting can lead to material waste and greater losses.
